Share your story
Toogood is a community endeavor: our history and stories as told by us.
We can’t wait to hear from you! Send us photos, voice notes, oral histories/interviews, written notes about ancestors, relatives, and loved ones. We’ll feature your stories as part of our collection, as well as digitize and archive them so they are not forgotten.
Here are three questions to help guide your submission:
What is a story you’d like to share about someone from your life/family? Anything goes! It can even be a story you’ve heard secondhand—sometimes we “know” relatives and loved ones not from direct experience, but instead from stories we’ve heard about them.
What is the impact (the story or person has had) on you?
Based on what you’ve shared, what do you want others to know and/or what have you gained from this person in your life?
When sending pictures, please include any identifable information you have: name, location, date (if possible), and a few details about the person so we have some context. One of our ethical principles is that our loved ones have earned the right to be named, recognized, and given their flowers—always!
If you have information you’d like to share and want to discuss further, email us.
Thank you for contributing to our vision of a world in which Black women are visible and remembered.
